梅仁信是個性格孤僻的怪人，很難相處，從不與人方便。梅仁信之所以如此不近人情，原來當年他的妻子昏倒街頭，可是竟然無人伸出援手，以致錯過拯救的黃金時間，含恨而終。當年的梅仁信，是名教練，在球壇上可說是叱咤風云，計謀百出，可是由于妻子驟然離世，讓他內疚萬分，認為忽略及虧欠了她，以致無法原諒自己，從此就隱姓埋名，遠離球場。
梅家隔壁住著莫家，兩家比鄰而居，隔著一堵薄薄的墻。
莫家與梅家起初是相安無事，可是后來因為梅仁信的不近人情，以及種種芝麻綠豆的小事，與莫家二妹莫麗花搞到水火不容，摩擦不斷,恩怨越結越深，難以化解。
